Quality & Sourcing
VitaLuma is a South African family-run wellness brand, based in Stellenbosch. Our aim is straightforward: to make superfood powders, functional beverages and carefully selected supplements easier to understand and use in real life.
Our quality approach
Quality is not a single word on the front of a pack. It is the combination of ingredient identity, supplier documentation, appropriate handling, clear labelling and honest communication. Our working standard is to assess products against five principles:
- Identity: the ingredient should be clearly named and match its intended food or supplement use.
- Traceability: supporting supplier and product documentation should be available for review where relevant.
- Fit for purpose: colour, taste, texture and specification should suit the way the product is sold and used.
- Clear information: ingredients, directions, warnings and storage guidance should be understandable.
- Responsible claims: we do not turn preliminary or ingredient-level research into promises about an individual result.
What “organic” means on our range
Organic status is product-specific. If a VitaLuma product is described as organic, that claim applies to the product identified on its label; it is not a blanket claim about every item in the range. Products that are not described as organic should not be assumed to be certified organic. We recommend checking the current product page and packaging for the exact status and ingredient statement.
How we use science
Nutrition and plant research can be useful, but context matters. A laboratory study, an animal study, an observational study and a well-designed human trial do not provide the same level of evidence. Results for a concentrated extract also cannot automatically be applied to a whole-food powder or a finished VitaLuma product.
Our educational content therefore focuses first on what an ingredient is, how it is used, what it tastes like and what the available evidence can reasonably support. Where a scientific statement is included, we aim to link to an identifiable source and distinguish established facts from emerging research.
Designed for South African households
Our guidance uses metric measures, familiar ingredients and realistic serving ideas—from smoothies with banana or naartjie to plain yoghurt, oats and warm lattes. We also keep local context in mind: product availability, nationwide delivery, warm-weather preparation and the need for clear value.
Powders can offer convenience, but they are not a shortcut around a varied diet. South African food-based dietary guidance emphasises eating a variety of foods and plenty of vegetables and fruit every day. We position our food powders as ingredients that can sit alongside those habits, not replace them.
Storage and freshness
Plant powders are sensitive to air, moisture, heat and light. Close the pouch or container properly after use, use a clean dry spoon and store the product as directed on the label. Natural variation in shade, aroma and taste can occur between agricultural batches; unexpected odour, moisture or damage should be reported before use.
Supplements and individual health needs
Supplements are not suitable for every person or circumstance. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, take prescription medicine, have a diagnosed condition, are preparing for surgery, or are buying for a child, speak to an appropriately qualified healthcare professional before use. Product information is general and is not a diagnosis or treatment plan.
Questions about a product?
Use our Contact page and include the product name and batch details where possible. We would rather check a specific question than give a broad answer that may not apply to your product or circumstances.
